5 things you might not know about Bracknell Ale & Wine Festival, but we’ll tell you anyway

Bracknell Ale & Wine Festival is a beer festival in Bracknell. That we think you’ve probably worked out from the headline, but here are five things you may not know about the getreading.co.uk sponsored event at Bracknell Town Football Club on Sunday, May 24.

It’s a bank holiday weekend

At first glance, Sunday seems a strange day to have a beer festival. We’ve all got work in the morning right?

WRONG!

Sunday, May 24 is slap bang in the middle of the second bank holiday weekend of the month. So (not that we encourage over-indulgence) you can head out for your Friday night celebrations – recover Saturday, see the family etc. and head on over to us on Sunday!

What could possibly go wrong?

You might qualify for free entry

That’s right! FREE entry. Come on in, make yourself at home.

If you are a paid up card carrying member of CAMRA then you are entitled to free entry to the event.

Also, if you are a season ticket holder, or member of Bracknell Bees Ice Hockey Club, Bracknell Rugby Club, Bracknell Town Football Club, Bracknell Cricket Club, Binfield Football Club or Wokingham & Emmbrook Football Club we’ll let you in free of charge.

Aren’t we good.

You don’t have to like real ale to come along

All we really want is for you to have a good time.

We’re putting on some great food, some great bands and we’ll have several barrel loads of wine and cider available.

Still not your thing? Don’t panic, we have Carlsberg and Stowford Press cider on tap as well as a full range of bottled beers, soft drinks and water.

Everyone working at the event is a volunteer

The event raises money for Bracknell Town Football Club and is organised and staffed by club members.

All the profit from the event goes directly into the club coffers to support its football initiatives that cover over 500 junior, youth and senior men and women. You can support the club by becoming a member here.

As Bob Geldof would say, give us your.. no wait sorry, I mean every penny counts!

On foot is the best way to get to us

We’re a short walk of around 10 minutes from Bracknell Railway and Bus Station’s as well as Bracknell Town Centre where there is both ample parking and regular train services from London and Reading – sadly we have no power over such things being on time.

We’ve got limited parking on site but we know you’ll be glad of the fresh air on the way home – though obviously we encourage you to drink responsibly.

Some final thoughts..

We are still unable to accept card payments on site so it’s worth stocking up on the old spondoolies on your way over. There are plenty of cash machines en route or at the BP petrol station on London Road.

We’ve been unbelievably lucky with the weather in recent years. But if the worst happens, we have a huge marquee on site as well as a number of smaller tents to keep you nice and dry. As any good British bank holiday event would do, we’ll keep calm and carry on.
